From the self-serving files:
The University of Kentucky basketball team may be on the verge of finally receiving some good news for a change. After going through a tumultuous beginning to his tenure at UK, Coach Billy Gillispie needs all of the positivity he can get his hands on.
The Wildcats are in the midst of a three-game losing streak and have already suffered through the defection of freshman Alex Legion. To top it off, Gillispie’s roster is incredibly short-handed with guards Derrick Jasper and Jodie Meeks out with injuries.
However, the Jodie Meeks situation may have just got a little clearer.
A report on Rivals.com reveals Meeks, who is recovering from a stress fracture in his pelvis, has practiced with the team the last two days and “is expected to be in uniform and available to play against the Cougars.” A report in the Louisville Courier-Journal was a little more vague.
Meeks, who has been resting a stress fracture in his pelvic area, has gone through full practices the past two days, but Gillispie said he doesn’t know if Meeks will be cleared to play when the Wildcats (4-4) face Houston (9-1) tomorrow.
“We’re like on a minute-by-minute situation,” Gillispie said at a news conference today. “Hopefully he can play. We definitely need him. We’ve missed him.”
Gillispie said Meeks’ return would be significant to his team…
And he’s right. The Wildcats have absolutely struggled since Meeks went down and his presence immediately improves a Kentucky basketball team struggling to find itself… and some victories.
In other news, an MRI on Jasper’s knee turned out negative. Jasper was practicing with the team last week in a limited role when he felt what he described as “sharp pains” in his surgerically-repaired knee.

Nice, the two best players Tubby leaves behind turn out to be brittle. That’s some fine recruiting.

Sorry he doesn’t share your precognition abilities because he should’ve known just how common stress fractures in the pelvis are… Hating on him because one of his players fell to the floor in such a manner it caused a fracture… sure I can see how that’s Tubby’s fault.

[...] This has the makings of being a typical ending for this Wildcats’ season, a season that has seen three of its best players, Jodie Meeks, Derrick Jasper, and now Patterson, fighting serious injuries. [...]
