John Wall Seems Bound for College

John Wall

For one year, at least. There was a renewed bout of speculation following the news about John Wall — the most coveted non-committed basketball player in the land — potentially being eligible for the NBA draft. While this news may be late in getting to him — yeah, right — Wall is not acting like someone who is getting ready to test the NBA’s waters.

“You can add Florida to my list,” he said. “I talked with Coach Donovan after the Hoop Summit, and he showed me some film on how he utilized Nick Calathes. I really liked how he used him in pick-and-roll situations. That is how I like to play and it was impressive.”

If becoming a lottery pick in June is Wall’s priority, why is he adding more institutions to the list of schools he’s interested in? I’m all for keeping your options open, but when Chad Ford offers this assessment:

Pegged as a Derrick Rose clone and a potential No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA draft, Wall was terrific against the World Team. He showed off his amazing speed, toughness and ridiculous leaping ability on his way to 13 points and 11 assists. While it’s clear he needs to work on his jump shot and decision-making in the half-court game, he did about everything he could to get GMs drooling.

Having a Plan B that includes going to college might not be necessary. Apparently, Wall indicated to his ailing mother he would in fact go to college for one or two years. Considering just how high the Chad Fords of the world are on Wall’s talent, if he stays at any college longer than one year, it will be because something drastic (injury, campus trouble) reduced his incredible effectiveness.

I apologize for any poor musical choices that accompany the video. Thank the maker for making Internet video editing so easy, anyone can include piss-poor soundtracks.

Duuude. You know you want to come play for Coach Cal. It will increase your draft chances( as if you really need it) exponentially. It is your… destiny. OMG!!
