Marshall’s Buzzer Beater

As indicated in my Zam Fredrick post, last night must have been buzzer beater night. However, none were more eye-opening than Marshall’s last-second 75-foot three-point basket, which gave the Thundering Herd a 53-50 win over Southern Methodist. While neither team is a threat to do much after the regular season is over–Marshall is now 9-9, while SMU is 6-10–it’s doubtful this highlight will be soon forgotten.

The basket was made by Markel Humphrey, a senior forward who’s averaging right under 10 points a game. While it’s unlikely Humphrey will go on to professional basketball fame, he’ll always the length-of-the-court game-winner to remind him of a time when he became a basketball God. For one night, anyway.
