Georgia at Arizona State - 8/7 Central on ABC

I’m expecting Georgia to run all over Arizona State, figuratively and literally. Too much Knowshon and Matthew Stafford. Besides, ASU has a habit of coming out really soft in big games. Remember USC last year? However, if UGA’s defense comes out flat, they could be in for a Pac-10 offensive explosion butt-whipping. The key for the Bulldogs will be putting as much pressure on Rudy Carpenter as they can. If they can disrupt the Sun Devils passing attack with regularity, the Bulldogs will role.
Prediction: UGA and big. 42-17.

Florida at Tennessee — 3:30/2:30 on CBS
Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow, Tim Tebow and Tim Tebow. Oh, and Percy Harvin.
Prediction - Florida 35 - Tennessee 14

LSU at Auburn — 7:45/6:45 on ESPN
Can Auburn stop LSU’s never ending supply of running backs? Tommy Tuberville’s defense is as stout as his offense is anemic. This doesn’t necessarily bode well when a team oozing with talent like LSU comes calling. But, LSU’s passing game is still largely unproven. This one, because of Auburn’s defense and all of the unknowns, is a little harder to gauge. I wouldn’t be surprised if this game mimic’s last week’s Auburn/Mississippi State slugfest. Although, it’s a lot to ask of a defense to get into two consecutive wars without some offensive help.
Prediction — Not an easy one. LSU escapes 13-8.

Virginia Tech at North Carolina — 3:30/2:30 on CBS/ESPN 360
Is this the game North Carolina confirms their arrival or will Frank Beamer get his Hokies back in the spotlight? North Carolina’s T.J. Yates can take some huge steps in the public eye if he leads his team to victory against Virginia Tech and considering the way he’s been playing (five touchdowns, one interception), he has a great chance as long as he and Brandon Tate can continue hooking up. Until Virginia Tech proves they can score, this could be a longer than season than expected for the Hokies.
Prediction — UNC continues their resurgence, 27-13.

Wake Forest at Florida State
The Seminoles are in the same position as North Carolina, strangely enough. This means they are trying to prove whether or not they are indeed “back.” Both teams have looked pretty decent in their opening two games; although, Wake Forest has the bigger win on their schedule with the Ole Miss game. Florida State, meanwhile, looks like they can score points again and both teams have their quarterbacks playing well. Wake’s Riley Skinner has five touchdown passes in only two games, while, Florida State’s Christian Ponder has six in two, giving us a push. Look for Florida State to try and win this game with their superior running attack.
Prediction — FSU is out to prove their worth in a weakened ACC. FSU - 35, Wake - 27.
Other Games of Note
Alabama at Arkansas — Welcome to the SEC, Bobby Petrino. Arkansas temporarily avoided Texas last week because of hurricane issues. After Saturday, we’ll have a pretty good idea how much work Petrino has to do before Arkansas can contend for the SEC West again.
Miami of Ohio at Cincinnati — the true battle of Ohio.
Mississippi State at Georgia Tech — Have you found an offense, Coach Croom?
Miami (The U) at Texas A&M — Will the Canes bounce back from their Florida beatdown deep in the heart of Texas?
Troy at Ohio State — this looms much bigger for the Buckeyes after two consecutive weeks of under performing. Troy = danger.
