Rays Win

The ratings darling Major League Baseball has been dying for came to fruition last night, as the Rays beat the Red Sox, 3-1, to secure a trip to the World Series, where they’ll meet up with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Rays owe a great deal of thanks to the timely relief pitching of David Price, who inherited a bases-loaded situation during the eighth inning. Price responded by striking out J.D. Drew and finished the game by striking out two more in the ninth. For Price, the number one pick in last year’s draft, it was his first save of the season. He certainly picked the right time for it.

After that, bedlam reigned as the worst-to-first Rays celebrated their first World Series berth in franchise history. TampaBay.com posted a video of said celebrations:

Your MVP was Matt Garza, who finished 2-0 with a 1.39 ERA against the Sox; although, no one would’ve been disappointed with B.J. Upton winning the award either. Upton finished the series batting .375 while hitting four home runs. He also had 11 RBIs.

Welcome to the Mr. October sweepstakes, B.J.
