Billy Crystal Practices Well

Maybe Mr. Mahvelous has a future in Spring Training after all. After I scoffed at the Yankees monumental free agent signing, Billy Crystal decided to show folks like me his signing was not just a publicity stunt.
Crystal certainly looked the part during his day-before workout. He kept the jokes to a minimum, made contact on all 52 swings against batting practice pitcher Tino Martinez and kept up with Derek Jeter in jogging drills.“He did fine,” Jeter said. “He did a good job.”
Take that, Chris Richardsons of the world.
When asked what position he’d be playing when the Yanks play the Pirates tomorrow, Crystal responded with, “DH — Designated Hebrew.”

I really don’t care if Billy is on the team for a day or not. Maybe we should ask the players that have been working hard for years trying to make the team. You know the A, AA, AAA players not Billy cause he can jog with Jeter and made contact with 52 pitches. Give me a break!
I mean this would be like Tommy managing the Dodgers again are arguing a bad call during spring training. HUH…what did I miss something… oh this actually happen…oh I stand corrected. Thanks Barry and Roger for bringing baseball to the likes of Billy and Tommy. Wow baseball you look mahvelous.

Last comment: Billy better be glad he’s playing the Pirates tomorrow and not Tampa Bay. I know if a was a Rays pitcher, I’m going head hunting.

As a person who grew up loving baseball and playing many, many years….the pleasant aroma has passed. I hate to say it, but I am not a fan anymore. Until the baseball “model” gets fixed, the same teams will be at the top every year and it just is not fun for me any more. Don’t get me wrong, I like going to a couple games a year, but I don’t have the zeal I used to have. Billy grew up with baseball similar to the time I did. So I understand how he can be such a big fan and love the Yankees. If I lived in New York, I would love them too. But what is sad, in my opinion, those good ‘ole days are gone.
