The man with the mustache, Rich “Goose” Gossage, became only the fifth ever relief pitcher to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was Gossage’s ninth year of eligibility. Goose, known as a hard-throwing fastballer, finished his career with 310 saves, 1502 Ks and a 3.01 ERA.
Joining Gossage with this year’s election is manager Dick Williams, who won two World Series Championships with the Oakland A’s. Williams was also Goose’s manager with the San Diego Padres when they won their first NL Pennant in 1984.
Much to Sooze’s dismay, Bert Blyleven again missed getting into the Hall, receiving 63% of the requisite 75. Other notable exclusions include:
- Jim Rice of the Boston Red Sox missed by 16 votes.
- Montreal and Chicago Cub great Andre Dawson with 65.9%
- Closer Lee Smith with only 43.3%

About damn time for Goose to get in. Now the voters need to yank their craniums out of their colons and vote in Jim Rice. I hate Boston and even I think he deserves to be in there. Punk-ass sportswriters today would wet themselves if they’d seen him in his prime, shredding a bat into toothpicks just by checking his swing.

The MLB Hall of Fame is a joke. I don’t give a damn about steroids or human growth hormone. Cheating in baseball has been going on forever. They had a chance in 98 when Big Red and I don’t know English anymore were hitting 60 plus to stop this before it got out of hand. Bud Selig you are the luckiest bastard ever. I mean you got Bonds, Canseco, and now the Rocket taking all the shots for you from the fans and media.
It’s amazing how playing Marty ball will get you fired after a 14-2 record but lose in first round and as Trump would say “you’re fired”.
Big Tuna builds the pieces to where Dallas is in a position to go Super Bowling but Wade(failed everywhere he’s coached)looks like better than Jimmy Johnson(not nascar).
Torre takes the blame for a bunch of has beens not getting to the World Series. Until they fix that pitching staff new Joe will wish he took that Baltimore job.
I guess what I’m getting at is Bud Selig and Isiah Thomas are made of Teflon. Nothing sticks to these guys.
