You have to believe Ryan Howard is at home right now, quoting the unforgettable words from the immortal Dave Chappelle show: “I’m rich, biyatch!!!!” Oh, it’s true. It’s true. The Philadelphia Phillies home run machine won his arbitration case yesterday to the tune of $10 million for this upcoming season—a record amount for such a victory.

Needless to say, The 700 Level is pretty pleased with the news. But they also make a good point: why didn’t the Phillies just pony up and pay the man? Hasn’t his value been quite apparent these past two seasons?

Or was this just a case of the Eagles front-office handling the negotiations?

If anyone is worth that kind of money, he is pretty deserving. I haven’t followed his career that much but I know he has put up some great stats.

    Howard: Pay me.

    Phillies fans: Pay The Man!

Phillies: Sit and spin. (raises finger)

    Arbitrator: Pay the man.

    Phillies: D’oh!

    Howard: Pwned.

    Fans: Yay!
