Thank God For Charlie Murphy (Leroy Smith)

Has Charlie Murphy surpassed his brother on the “cool points” scale? If the Rick James story didn’t make that a resounding yes, perhaps Leroy Smith will. Who is Leroy Smith? He’s the guy who wants you to Get Your Basketball On. Oh, and he’s also the guy that’s single-handedly responsible for motivating Michael Jordan.

You see, when Jordan was cut from his basketball team in tenth grade, it was Smith who got the vacant spot. From there, the Michael Jordan legend was born. Had Smith not outplayed Jordan — or, not been more favorable in the eyes of the head coach — who knows what Jordan would’ve become? Perhaps he would’ve been a complacent player, used to having everything handed to him.

But no, thanks to Leroy Smith, Michael Jordan went on to possess a once-in-a-lifetime kind of drive that led him to top of the popularity mountain, while helping him conquer David Stern six times. Now, Smith wants to provide you, the fans, with some of his motivational tactics to help you become all that you can be.
