Has David Stern Become Completely Inept?

It’s hard to believe the man who oversaw the Renaissance of the NBA (thanks in large part to Michael, Larry, and Magic) is now allowing some of the eye-opening stuff that’s been going on to take place in his league.
First off, how long has he been Clay Bennett’s pocket? I find it hard to believe Stern is essentially defecating on the Seattle fans and their franchise because Clay Bennett wants a team in Oklahoma City.
A noted hot-bed of NBA action if there ever was one.
Not only has he allowed Bennett to run roughshod over the Sonic fanbase, he is showing very little remorse for a team/city that’s actually produced an NBA title. As for Oklahoma City, well, Chris Paul had some nice things to say about it, so there is that.
Because of Stern’s inaction, other businessmen in Seattle are trying to take matters into their own hands by forcefully removing Bennett from the Sonics ownership. I wonder which side of the fight Stern will be on?
Unfortunately, Stern’s bumbling of this once incredibly lucrative, highly-watched (TV ratings for the NBA have not been consistent for sometime) league doesn’t stop there. Who can forget the Phoenix/San Antonio debacle from last year where Stern got to go on Dan Patrick’s show and “wrestle” with him in an effort to defend an indefensible stance?
And now we have the Philadelphia 76ers/Cleveland Cavaliers mess from last night. I find it hard to believe a competent commissioner would allow such INCOMPETENT referees to be employed in the sport he oversees. Of course, you can always ask Dwyane Wade and the Dallas Mavericks all about that.
Is Stern still the man for the job or is he becoming a shell of his former self? How the Clay Bennett episode plays out will be awfully telling about the state of the NBA’s commissioner.
