Kenyon Martin Says Nice Things To Mark Cuban

Fun story going on in the Denver/Dallas series. First, Mark Cuban tells Kenyon Martin’s mom her son is a thug or a dirty player. Something like that anyway. In the meantime, Mrs. Martin’s son, Kenyon, was none-to-pleased with Cuban for his comments and lets everybody know he’ll handle it on his own. While slightly foreboding, Martin’s words aren’t quite of the threatening nature. Nevertheless, the bad blood between the two is palpable, so much so, it warranted a “fall on the sword” apology from Cuban, who is now bending over backwards to make up for the anger he directed at the Martin clan.

One wonders if it was Kenyon Martin’s post game comments that caused Cuban to rethink his position. You see, after last night’s game — great job by Dallas riding the Dirk “Diggler” Nowitzki in their “avoid elimination” bid — Martin expressed himself in the direction of Cuban, and his message wasn’t the most welcoming one you could give. In fact, it was fairly ominous and sincerely profane.

While walking off the court, Martin looked in Cuban’s direction and said, “You better walk that way. You better walk that way you fa***t motherf****r. You gotta come to Denver bi**h.”

Can’t we all just get along?

Martin’s backlash can clearly be seen in the lead video, so much so, there’s no mistaking what was being said. The question I now have is this: Did Martin’s words cause Cuban to employee the “Please let cooler heads prevail” response or was he in apology mode before the invitation/warning? Whatever the case, one thing looks certain, if the Nuggets wind up closing the Mavericks out in Game 5, I’m sure Martin will have plenty of Richard Pryor-style material to add to his departing monologue.
