The Jason-Kidd-to-Dallas trade has been consummated, er, finalized as the New Jersey Nets and the Dallas Mavericks agreed to exchange all of their bench players for the best non-shooting point guard to ever lace up basketball sneakers.

No more J-Kidd for you Jay-Z

The principles of the Jason Kidd trade are these:

After six days of twists and turns, the Mavs dealt Devin Harris, Gana Diop, Trenton Hassell, Moe Ager, Keith Van Horn, a pair of draft picks and cash to acquire Kidd, Malik Allen and Antoine Wright from New Jersey.

The Mavs re-signed Van Horn, who hasn’t played since the 2006 Finals, to make the deal work financially.

You can imagine Dirk and Avery are pretty happy the trade finally came through. Now the question is, can they make last year’s Golden State debacle a thing of the past?
