After being blitzkrieged by the Hawks in Atlanta, the Boston 3-Party (which CRIMINALLY excludes Rajon Rondo) came back to Boston and stomped the Hawks, 110-85, making things right with the basketball cosmos again — at least until the Celtics have to make their final return trip to Atlanta for Game 6. Speaking of the Big-3, they, of course, led Boston to victory as Paul Pierce scored 22 points, Garnett had 20 and Allen finished with 19.
Apparently, these guys are trying to define the word “balance” right before our eyes.
As for Rondo, he also contributed mightily with 12 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds. Of course, that stat line doesn’t begin to tell the story about the kind of leadership the second-year guard out of Kentucky has shown. Instead of taking a backseat to the 3-Party, Rondo leads them on the floor by directing the traffic and running the offense in an incredibly smooth fashion.
The game was punctuated in the early going by a monster KG jam; a dunk that set the tone for the rest of the evening:
The question is, can Atlanta recapture that shocking magic they displayed in Games 3 and 4 and send this series to a Game 7? We’ll find out on Friday.
