Kevin “Tank” Garnett and his Boston Celtics put an emphatic end to the Houston Rockets winning streak last, 94-74. After being tied at 40 at the half, the Celts hounded the Rockets with smothering defense and outscored them, 54-24. Houston’s 74-point whimper was their lowest scoring total since the streak began.

Furthermore, the Boston defense held McGrady to 8 points. For the game.

For the Celtics, the win solidified their position as the best regular season team of 2007-08 (NBA-wise), moving them to a league-best 54-13. The win also completed the second step of Boston’s attempted sweep of NBA state of Texas… well, for this road-trip anyway. Monday night, the Celts beat the Spurs in San Antonio, 93-91. Next up for the C’s: the Dallas Mavericks.

As for the Rockets, their road gets no easier. Tonight they start a three-game road trip in New Orleans, followed by Golden State and the resurgent Phoenix Suns. We’ll know A LOT more about this team after Saturday night. As for this post, we’ll end it on with KG’s game-sealing dunk over, well, everybody in the paint.

Give it up for KG, Give it up for the C’s. Give it up for KG, Give it up for the C’s. Give it up for KG, Give it up for the C’s.
