Jim, I, to this day, do not understand Brett's sense of neediness. It's almost to a "Look at me, I'm an attention whore" levels.

How many 4's for staying with the Packers?

For all the Favre supporters check out this campaign to send cheese to Thompson if he doesn't bring back Favre: http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/bring-back-brett-favre

I have beef all the way around on this one.

I hate that the Packers won't admit that they're a better team with Favre under center. From the Packers' press release regarding Favre's request for release:
<em>"...the Green Bay Packers made the commitment to move forward with our football team...As always, the Packers will do what's right and in the best interest of the team."</em>
This may be in the best interest of Rodgers' psyche (and arguably the team's short-term financial situation), but certainly not the team.

I really hate that Favre is such a baby. He retired because no one pleaded with him not to? You're a legendary Quarterback that just broke every meaningful record at your position, you're a hands-down first-ballot HOF nominee, you just completed the best season you've had since the mid 90s, and you need the team to tell you they want you? I also don't buy the nonsense about him still being angry they didn't sign Randy Moss.

After he announced his retirement, I was excited by the thought that perhaps some of the money allocated to paying Favre's salary could be redistributed to deserving Packers veterans. So far they have been correct in not shelling out extra cash for the big names that have departed recently, (ie Ahman Green and Javon Walker) and only time will tell whether their decision to trade Corey Williams was the right one. Since it's abundantly clear that Thompson has no interest in picking up any free agents, it is exciting to think they'd be able to lock all of their important young players into long-term deals.

The truth remains, however, that Favre gives them the best chance to win right now.

While I don't agree that Favre has burned his bridges in Green Bay, (Thompson's bit about families having disagreements and getting over them comes to mind) my Brett Favre bobblehead is going to stay retired unless number 4 racks up consecutive start number 254 against the Vikings on ESPN's MNF opener on September 8th.

BTW - the Packers play Tampa Bay on September 28th. If you're right about the possible trade, that could be a very interesting game.

I'd say your comment reflects the sentiments of many who follow the NFL and the fed up Favre fans.
