The talking heads would be reduced to drooling and shrieking in the runup to the game. Even Mike Tirico might break out of his shell. But no, people would rather see the Meineke Bowl and a bunch of 7-5 and 6-6 teams duking it out for, well, I'm not really sure. Do mad props from the Petro Sun Independence Bowl get you a edge over everyone else applying for a job at an investment bank? USC, LSU, Florida, and Hawaii. The first bowl game was played in 1902 according to Wikipedia, so it took 96 years to get to a two team playoff. At this pace, we should have a 16-team playoff in 2286.
