Eddie Royal Returns San Diego to Sender

Is this the point where we stop asking is the Denver Broncos are for real, and work to figure out just how good they really are? It’s obvious now the Broncos and their impressive 6-0 record are no fluke. Sure, they need some immaculate intervention against the Bengals, but when your last two wins come against the New England Patriots and the San Diego Chargers, the time for questions about legitimacy ends. At least it does for me.

And hey, Denver’s uniforms are the god damn bomb, so they have that going for them as well.

So while the shock of Denver’s start may not have worn off, it’s time to accept them among the NFL pantheon of really-good-to-great teams. The main reason the Broncos were better than the Chargers last night has a lot to do with wide receiver/kick returner Eddie Royal. Royal became the first player in Denver Broncos history to return both a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns in the same game. According to the quicksilver-like Royal, it’s doubtful he was touched during either return:

Royal thinks one of the Chargers got a hand on him during his 93-yard kickoff return in the first quarter. He knows no one touched him on his 71-yard punt return in the second quarter.

We led this post with Royal’s first return — the kickoff — and we also have the punt return:

The question going forward is where do the Broncos fall when it comes to NFL power rankings? The general consensus seems to point to the New Orleans Saints as the current top dog with Indianapolis and Minnesota getting love here too. Are the Broncos ready to crash that upper-echelon party or is this season akin to a flash in the pan?

I’m beginning to believe that this team IS for real. Not 100% convinced but, they are 6-0 and that should speak for itself. Eddie Royal is the Goddamn bomb. That dude is freaking lightning fast!! I never would’ve believed that this team would be where they are right now but…

Oh and that defense is absolutely stifling.

  3. Chris Says:

Amazing that Eddie Royal knows a thing or two about kick returns, having played for Frank Beamer and all.

    :)

and there I was hoping that Denve would SUCK ASS because of all the new staff and players…
Obviously I’m pissed they beat the chargers, but they put up a damn good defense on us and I will give it to them because the san diego defense needs some SERIOUS work :/

Katherine, it’s obvious San Diego was distracted by Denver’s incredible uniforms. ;)
