After trying to pry the tight end away from the New York Giants during the Draft, the New Orleans Saints looks like they got their man as reports of Jeremy Shockey’s trade have hit the wires. According to the reports, the Saints got Shockey for second-round and fifth-round draft picks in next year’s NFL Draft. In honor of the trade news, I made the little image above. I can imagine the Saints front-office wants as little to do with the above situation as possible.
We’ll see what happens when the next Mardi Gras comes along. Until then, Shockey gives the prolific Drew Brees another legitimate target. His presence should, along with the return of Deuce McAllister, take even more pressure off of Reggie Bush because it was apparent after McAllister went down that being the featured back wasn’t his strong suit. As for the Giants, expect Kevin Boss to step into Shockey’s now-vacant starting tight end position.
In other news, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer continues to outwork just about everybody on ESPN’s NFL beat. Chalk up another breaking story to the bald one who doesn’t like Georgetown, Kentucky. (hey, that’s twice I mentioned Georgetown today).

As a Giants fan I think Nawlins is a perfect fit for Shockey. And I’d have said the same thing about any other team in the NFL as long as the Giants got rid of him.

That seems to be the response of most Giants fans. Although, I am curious whether or not they really think Kevin Boss is a better alternative…
