And the Yard is absolutely exploding with some of the most masterful comments in sports-related forum, perhaps ever. In what amounts to a coup, the YBN introduced Terrell Owen today as part of their “Verified Athlete” blogging crew, and boy, the response is something to be seen–and read. T.O.’s first post asks a very simple, but effective question: What would the reaction be if it he who said those things about Cris Carter instead of the other way around? What would the outcry be?

First, a reminder of Cris Carter’s eloquence:

Now, imagine T.O. saying that about Carter. ESPN and the rest of the sports-loving free world would be taking him to task right now, between the mouthfuls of the Tim Tebow feast. Cris Carter, on the other hand, gets a fairly easy pass for suggesting Owens go the way of a horse with a broken leg. Interesting dichotomy.

Anyway, that’s not the only reason I’m mentioning Owens’ debut post. No, the reason for this post is the reactions T.O.’s presence brings to the table, something YBN hasn’t dealt with much since the initial “Beast Mode” posts–save the occasional Donovan McNabb post.

Here’s a sampling of the reactions Owens produces–keep in mind, the Yard is crawling with Iggles fans. I’m keeping these quotes all nice and sic’d up for your enjoyment.

Let’s recap; He is run out of San Fran because of his antics and was traded to Baltimore, where he refused to play. Because of his refusal he found his way to Philly where he originally wanted to play. Upon his arrival in Philadelphia he signs a 7 year contract. During his first season he was a god Philly scoring 14 TD’s in 11 games and returned from a broken leg to play in the superbowl. I’m not sure I can do any better than that, so I’ll just stop here. I will say, however, I do think Owens makes a valid point. Good times.
