Ray Lewis Isn’t A Fan of the Tom Brady Rule

Ole Ray-Ray was in a mood after his Baltimore Ravens lost to the New England Patriots, so much, in fact, he threw down is best Krazee-Eyes Killah impersonation to make his point about the level of over-protection afforded to NFL quarterbacks, namely, Tom Brady. Lewis’ ire comes from two personal foul calls made against Ravens defenders for apparently getting too close to Brady. Shutdown Corner has the description:
On third-and-9 with 3:35 left in the first quarter and the ball at the Baltimore 37, tackle Naloti Ngata was flagged for roughing the passer on a play that looked more like Ngata was trying to deflect Brady’s pass before it was thrown by raising his arms. As Ngata’s left arm came down, it grazed the right side of Brady’s facemask. Brady went down as if he’d been hit by a brick (nice method acting there), and there was laundry on the field. The second roughing call, with 5:16 left in the first half and the ball at the Baltimore 43, came on second-and-11. Endbacker Terrell Suggs beat his man up the middle and pressured Brady just as he threw. Right after the throw, Suggs appeared to go low, but to Brady’s right, in an effort to go away from his knees.
Now, it should be noted Suggs didn’t hit Brady’s knee; more of a brush, really. But that didn’t stop the New England quarterback from soliciting a flag from the officials, and apparently, they were eager to accommodate him.
Que Lewis’ reaction to the flags.
Obviously, the NFL isn’t going to do much alteration to a rule it just adopted, especially one that protects their stars. Nevertheless, something needs to be addressed about giving a team 15 yards and a first down because the quarterback was uncomfortable. The normal response is to say something like “put flags on the quarterbacks then,” but making puns about the rule doesn’t change the fact that it, time and again, puts defenders in an unknown situation. Should they follow through on the tackle they’re about to make, or should they let the quarterback throw the ball without trying to make a play?
Is that how we want our stout pass rushers reacting when they have a legitimate chance to lay a shot on the quarterback? Or, we could simply things the way Rodney Harrison did. Take the damn skirt off and let them play.

F***king ridiculous! “Dear God don’t hit the face of the NFL”! What a joke. I’m personally challenging any defensive player in the NFL to hit that mother f***ker AS HARD AS YOU CAN and just say “Dude, I didn’t hear a whistle.”
They (NFL) made the tuck rule up so Brady could win a playoff game and now this. Disgrace. And shame on the refs for buying that shit. If they would’ve been paying attention to the game they would’ve seen those were not penalties. I’m sure there are Pats fans who would agree with me on this one
And I just sold some ocean-front property in K.C.! L8r brah!

OH MY GOD… Kudo’s to #52, Ray Lewis!! He spoke his mind, he’ll take his fines like a man and play the game like he’s played for years…he doesn’t have the Superbowl ring and Superbowl MVP for nothing!! The NFL better get there sh!t together or within the next 5 years thes PRO’s are gonna be playing in the NFFL..NATIONAL FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE!!
These pansyass QB’s better suck it up and start playing the game the way Utitias and the boys played it back in the day. FOOTBALL is a CONTACT SPORT, it wasn’t meant any other way!
Tom Brady needs to quit the NFL and continue down the path of least resistance…sportin his candyass on a pony doing cologne commercials!! Give me a break! If you WANNA play with the BIG BOYS, SUCK IT UP AND PLAY…if you wanna whine and complain, GET OFF THE PRO FIELD AND DO A COMMERCIAL!

You people can’t be serious. I’m upset that the rule took so long to get put in. I’ve seen many of quarterbacks take some pretty low shots and nothing was done. I can think of one that happen in the playoffs around 2005. They made the rule to protect the guys that are the franchise players. So it’s okay for you guys to take cheat shots at Tom Brady for a rule that you already knew about before the season started. You guys are no better than T. Suggs for going after his knees in a cheat shot way.

So Suggs is only supposed to tackle Brady’s chest?

I almost peed my pants when Rodney Harris said for Brady to take the damn skirt off. omg. ANYWAYS… Well Carson, then PLEASE explain to me what is supposed to happen when a defensive player sees that he can go in for the sack? tap him on the shoulder? I don’t think so, he needs to take that shit like a man and stop being a LITTLE B*tch. PERIOD.
The NFL seems to be turning into a to quote Laurie “a pansyass” game.
I hope someone sacks Tom Brady and breaks his f*cking legs!
