Sanchez Going Pro

We’ve been having a few technical bugaboos today, so bear with us. Good news, USC fans. You get to go through another quarterback competition in the spring because Mark Sanchez is going to ply his trade in the NFL. He’s leaving the land of
Sanchez is coming off a fantastic Rose Bowl game, which saw him throw for over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also had a rushing TD as the Trojans ran the Nittany Lions back to the east coast.
Pete Carroll indicated Sanchez would probably benefit for one more season because of his lack of starting experience. 2008 was Sanchez’ first full season as the starting quarterback. Nevertheless, being ranked as one of the top quarterbacks going into the draft undoubtedly resonated with Sanchez.
His decision, on the other hand, resonates just as much with USC fans:
Sanchez is good. But it is my opinion that with another year running USC’s offense, he’d be spectacular. A college QB should have more than 1 year as a starter. Sometimes it’s not possible, they backup someone just a year older than they are. This is not the case with Sanchez.
He’s chosen dollars over greatness.
Obviously, Coach Carroll is not the only one who thinks Sanchez should be at USC next season. Again, however, it’s hard to turn down being one of the top-ranked players going in to the NFL’s draft extravaganza. That’s a distinction few football players could ignore.
Should Detroit take a chance on Sanchez our would they be better of with Georgia’s Stafford? Would the Lions trade their top pick for a package of first and second round selections?
