It’s as simple as this — the Redeemer’s
Led by Kobe’s 25 and LeBron’s 16 points, nine boards, three steals and four assists, the United States rolled the feisty Australians, 116-85. It was an odd start for the Redeemers and it looked like they were letting Australia dictate the game. But they woke up in the second quarter and started defended and causing turnovers.
The first half was ended with a Deron William 3-pointer as the buzzer went off, putting Team USA up by 12. In the second half, the route was on. After shooting poorly from the 3-point line in the first half, the U.S. came out and started the half on 14-0 run, with 3-point shooting leading the barrage.
Add an injured Andrew Bogut to the mix, plus an incredible rebounding advantage — 57-28 — and you have the ingredients for a basketball beatdown. Up next for the U.S. is the winner of the Argentina/Greece match-up, which is currently in progress, with Greece holding a surprising 50-48 lead in the third quarter. Updates on this game as they warrant.
Update: The Argentinians beat the Greeks, 80-78, and will face Team USA on Friday morning. The winner advances to the gold medal game. This should be a great match-up for the U.S. as Argentina features Manu Ginobli, Luis Scola, Fabricio Omberto, Andres Nocioni and Carlos Delfino, all of whom are or have been active NBA players.
