No, J, we don't. All the video is controlled by NBC. They were showing the Greece/Argentina basketball on the USA Network (who NBC allows). We only have two other networks showing the Olympics during the day and because they aren't necessarily prominent, they don't show big events.

As for the online video feeds, we are not in the right region. Every video feed service has that disclaimer when you try to watch online. It's really pathetic.

You don't have interactive TV over there? In the UK you can press a button and a list of events come up that you can watch, from gymnastics to track and field, just press the red button.

Lamer:

Considering the fact the record stood for 12 years (17 before that), any time the 200-meter record is broken, it's shattered. ;) Besides, .02 seconds is almost a step-and-a-half in sprinting. That's a wide margin.

SCBay:

You are correct, sir. The rest of the free world got to see it live from what I understand. Us sad Americans have to wait until the ever so precious "PRIME TIME" hour. I didn't know 10:30 or later is considered a prime viewing hour, but maybe that's just me.

Thanks for the kind words.

"Of course, we Americans won’t be able to watch the race until sometime around midnight or so, but hey, NBC knows what’s best, correct?"

Is it just me or is it incredibly ridiculous that were not able to watch these events live... are we not in the 21st F#@kin century. I wrote NBC an email to let them know how shitty of a job they have done broadcasting these Olympics and I encourage all to do the same. You would think, as an American, I would be able to watch Michael Phelps live break the record and become the most decorated Olympian of all time, but instead I was tunned into mile 2 of the womens Marathon. What a crock!

Other note... nice article!
