Heading For Williams Sisters Final? (Wimbledon)

Now that they have the two Williams sisters on opposite sides of the bracket, perhaps we can see what we should’ve seen at last year’s US Open: the Williams sisters battling in the final, this time, at Wimbledon. If you remember just how competitive their US Open match was, this is something you should be waiting for with open arms. Both sisters advanced today, as Serena beat Victoria Azarenka and Venus dispatched Agnieszka Radwanska. With seven Wimbledon titles between them, five for Venus, how can you not want to see these two square off against each other on Saturday?
Granted, both Williams sisters have semi-final matches to navigate — potentially tough ones (Venus has top-seeded Dinara Safina and Serena has IF fave Elena Dementieva) — but with every set point won, the fantasy of seeing the two best women tennis players in the world gets closer to reality.
Of course, now that I’m writing this, it will be Safina and Dementieva in the final, but one can hope, can’t one? Oh, and the Williams sisters are competing for the women’s doubles title as well. Considering their success at Wimbledon so far this year, I’m wondering if the fear that Serena hurts Venus’ legacy is still alive?
